When you think of an employee advocacy program, it’s easy to think about individual contributors, or Members, completing the activities. But sometimes there is a need for a business page to complete the action rather than an individual contributor. For instance, your company may benefit by connecting brand-specific business pages so that Managers can contribute content to channel sales or partnership promotions. It’s also quite helpful for franchise locations, allowing one point of contact to contribute content to the business page of multiple locations.
With this feature, Members whose personal LinkedIn or Facebook accounts have administrative privileges over the business account can complete Activities on behalf of the business account. Without this feature, Members can only perform activities on behalf of their personal accounts.
Before getting started, there are a few important definitions that will help you determine whom in your organization can connect to Facebook or LinkedIn Business Pages.
LinkedIn and Facebook Privileges
Administrative Privileges
A personal account within the LinkedIn or Facebook network that has the ability to create social posts on the connected business account(s).
Note: Administrators and Moderators on your Business Page can connect GaggleAMP to a Business Page but an Editor cannot.
Authorized Account
A LinkedIn or Facebook account that GaggleAMP has been granted permission to post content on the behalf of. This control is granted when the Member, with administrative privileges, authorizes control within the Facebook and/or LinkedIn network and happens at the time they authenticate their personal account via the GaggleAMP ‘Social Accounts’ widget.
Active Account
This defines the LinkedIn or Facebook page to which performed activities are published. For example, when a Member completes a ‘Share to Facebook’ or a ‘Like on Facebook’ activity, the content will be shared on or liked by whichever LinkedIn or Facebook account is set to ‘Active’ within the GaggleAMP ‘Social Account’ widget, be it the personal account or connected business page.
Setting Up Your Business Page Connection on LinkedIn
Before getting started, make sure you have eligibility to connect your Business Page(s) and can answer ‘yes’ to each of the following:
-
You have a personal LinkedIn account.
-
Your personal LinkedIn account has administrative privileges over business accounts/pages on LinkedIn.
-
Upon authenticating your personal account, you are prepared to provide authorization to GaggleAMP to take actions on behalf of the personal account and business account.
Note: You will still have full control over which activities you choose to share from connected accounts.
-
Your Gaggle must have authorization to ‘share content to business pages.’ To get authorization for this feature, ask your Customer Success Manager to enable it.
Adding Your LinkedIn Business Account
First, navigate to the ‘Social Accounts’ widget. This can be found from the Member dashboard by navigating to the ‘Things to do' tab and scrolling down the left-side widget bar to the 'Social Accounts' widget.
Click ‘Add’ and the LinkedIn prompt will open. Here you will provide your personal account credentials.
Once you have signed into LinkedIn, you will receive this prompt.
Note: If you have previously connected your account, and have allowed LinkedIn to sync with GaggleAMP, you will not be shown this step. It will automatically redirect you to your Gaggle.
Once you have selected ‘Allow,’ this completes the process of making the personal and business LinkedIn pages available within the Gaggle.
Setting Up Your Business Page Connection on Facebook
Before getting started, make sure you have eligibility to connect your Business Page and can answer ‘yes’ to each of the following:
-
You have a personal Facebook account.
-
Your personal Facebook account has administrative privileges over business accounts/pages on Facebook.
-
Upon authenticating your personal account, you are prepared to provide authorization to GaggleAMP to take actions on behalf of the personal account and business account.
Note: You will still have full control to choose which activities you choose to share from both your personal and business accounts.
-
Your Gaggle must have authorization to ‘share content to business pages.’ To get authorization for this feature, ask your Customer Success Manager to enable it.
Adding Your Facebook Business Account
First, navigate to the ‘Social Accounts’ widget. This can be found from the Member dashboard by navigating to the ‘Things to do' tab and scrolling down the left-side widget bar to the 'Social Accounts' widget.
Click ‘Add’ and the Facebook prompt will open. Here you will provide your personal account credentials.
Once you have signed into Facebook, you will receive this prompt. Select which Business Pages (if any) you authorize GaggleAMP to control.
Next, you can select which actions GaggleAMP is authorized to take on behalf of your personal page and select Business Pages.
Note: GaggleAMP may not work properly if you toggle any of these options from active to inactive.
Select ‘Done’ and this completes the process of making the personal and business Facebook pages available within the Gaggle.
Choosing Which Connected Page to Share Content From
Once your LinkedIn and/or Facebook business page(s) have been connected to GaggleAMP, you can now choose which account to share an activity from. To toggle between your personal and connected business accounts, go to the ‘Social Account’ widget gear and click it.
A slider will appear on the right.
Here you will see a drop-down now appears for those networks in which you connected your business page. If there are no business pages connected, the active account is the authenticated personal account.
Keep in mind that only one Activity can be shared per account so if you want an Activity to be performed by both the business page and the personal account, two Activities will need to be created. Once an Activity is shared for the first time, that activity will no longer be visible for other accounts (personal connected accounts or other business pages) without creating a second activity to share.
Important: If you’d like to take advantage of this feature and have a linked personal account with admin privileges over Business Pages, but do not see the dropdown as an option, remove your existing account connections. This will allow you to go through the process of adding your account connections again, which will give you the opportunity to authorize GaggleAMP to control the business accounts.
Removing a Business Account
If at any time you need to remove a Business Page from your platform, visit the ‘Social Accounts’ widget, select the Business Page you want to remove and click ‘remove.’
At this time, Business Pages cannot be connected and authorized via mobile.
