What is the Gaggle Share Bar?

The Gaggle Share Bar works with the GaggleAMP's URL Shortener to allow you to display additional branding, context or a call to action to anyone who clicks on a link shared by your Gaggle Members.

To accomplish this, the Gaggle Share Bar wraps the content of the linked page in an HTML Frame and then placing its own content above the Frame. To someone who has clicked on a short URL that has the GaggleAMP Share Bar enabled, they will still see the linked content in its entirety. Your share bar will only take up a small amount of room (32 pixels) above the page.

Here's an example of a link with the Share Bar:

Visitors can opt-out of the share bar by clicking the “X” on the right side of the screen.

This feature is a premium feature. If you are interested in getting this feature added to your Gaggle, speak to your GaggleAMP representative.

Caveats

1. Some websites do not allow their content to be displayed in a Frame (specifically, they enabled restrictions via the X-FRAME-OPTIONS HTTP Header). For these sites, it is not possible to use the share bar, so GaggleAMP defaults to using a basic redirect instead for these cases.

If you notice a page that does not appear below the share bar, please email the URL to our support team at support@gaggleamp.com.com

2. The Gaggle Share Bar will appear on messages that contain a GaggleAMP Short URL (gag.gl or your custom domain). Messages without that link and certain types of messages, eg Twitter Retweets, will not be able to use the Gaggle Share Bar.

Customization Options

A Gaggle Manager can customize the following parts of the GaggleAMP Share Bar:
  • Text: the text displayed in the share bar (80 characters max)
  • Link: a link displayed after the share bar text
  • Logo: the logo displayed on the left side of the share bar (28px high max)
  • Logo Link: a link the user will be taken to when they click on the logo
  • Text Color: the color of the share bar text
  • Background Color: the background color of the share bar
